The North Carolina Division of Aging and Adult Services says people pretending to work for the Social Security Administration have been calling and telling North Carolinians they've won a Medicare grant. That means they'd get $500 a month for the next six months. The caller then asks for personal banking information, the scammer says, in order to make sure the grant winner gets the money. People who reported this scam say the callers will not explain the grant program. They also say the callers are very persistent and have heavy foreign accents.
