The Better Business Bureau is warning people not to fall for a babysitting job hoax where you'd be working to pad a scam artist's pockets.
The Better Business Bureau says when people in Pennsylvania responded to a local newspaper ad for a babysitting job, they were told the job was filled. However, they were told their information would be passed onto a friend who also needed a babysitter. The Bureau says the other potential employer was located out of the country. They said paychecks should be deposited, but the sitter would need to wire a portion back to the employer.
Any time you're asked to wire money to someone you don't know, be careful. Once you've wired the money, it's gone. You may find out in a few weeks that the check you deposited was fake.
