(NBC News) As Congress continues to investigate why it took some veterans so long to see a doctor, we're hearing shocking new revelations from a Veterans Affairs employee who says she was forced to keep that secret appointment list.
Paulene DeWenter says she decided to go public after a particularly disturbing case. Despite all the scrutiny on the VA, she claims it's still happening.
"I feel horrible about what I've done and I cannot erase my role," DeWenter says.
DeWenter says a manager forced her to keep a secret waiting list with more than a thousand veterans and alleges it's still happening. She says that her notes about seven patients who died waiting to see doctors were recently altered or erased.
