Santorum Walks Back Remark On Obama 2nd Term

Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum is taking back his comment that the country might as well re-elect President Barack Obama if Mitt Romney wins the GOP nomination.

Santorum emphasized Friday that he will support whoever wins the Republican primary.

Santorum was campaigning at a gun range in northern Louisiana and as he fired a .45 caliber semi-automatic Colt pistol, a woman in the audience shouted: "Pretend it's Obama."

Santorum was wearing protective ear muffs. He said later that he didn't hear the remark but denounced it as "absurd."

The Secret Service was investigating.

On Thursday, Santorum argued that Romney and Obama are so similar on the issues that Republicans might just as well vote to give the president a second term instead of casting their ballots for Romney.

I would vote either; Romney, Santorum, or Newt over the Socialist Obama in November.

Now go have that good cry, grab koolaid and have that long binge...over man, get over it. Get treatment, pound sand...scream you "I cannot take it anymore", whatever.

If Obama thinks he might loose the election, do you really believe he will allow an election to take place? I can see him declaring martial law and saying it is to dangerous to hold elections at this time. And yes I believe he could and would do it.

WASHINGTON -- Mitt Romney on the campaign trail has chided President Barack Obama for failing to curb prices at the pump, even as prominent economists have debunked those talking points, saying there's little the president can do to lower prices in the short term. Now the latest twist: No one from Romney's economic team will step forward to defend him. First, tell lies to arouse fear, suspicion and anger. Then back off with a non-retraction so whatever damage that can be done won't be undone. Well played by the Romney campaign. The United States produces about 10% of the world's oil and is past peak oil production, meaning the law of diminishing returns is in effect. And we are already producing more oil than we have in over 20 years. More drilling in the US will not significantly affect oil prices. Romney knows that.

No surprise, Mr Roboto will never survive a debate with Prez Obama.

I never thought much of Santorum. He couldn't get re-elected to his own Senate seat, and he continues to make these stupid loose cannon remarks. This is a horrible mistake, it will hurt his chances and may help kill getting a Republican elected and bringing some common sense back to this Nation. Dumb move, Rick.

Santorum is on the fringe in so many ways. He was blown out in his last run for Senate, remained in obscurity for six years, now comes out of nowhere spewing extreme positions and absurdity like suggesting we should vote for Obama instead of Romney. Mitt is the only decent choice this year. He will make a better president than he is a candidate. He'll be steady and strong and fiscally responsible. This sideshow needs to end - Santorum and Gingrich should stop bashing the inevitable nominee and step aside. Vote Mitt.

Three words..Etch-a-Sketch! You GOPers just crack me up. Obama has already won his re-election, no need to wait until November, the GOP in Congress may as well start packing also.

I've gone from liking to tolerating to really detesting Santorum. He's shown here that his ambition to be elected goes beyond his commitment to get a new president. He really needs to step aside. No credible candidate should make a remark like this. He is an embarrassment.

Why this guy is still hanging around is beyond me. You would think there would be enough preassure from the Republican leadership to get him to go home. Whatever, he and Gingrich are going to stay in I guess. The longer they slap each other around, the better for the Dems.

This has become a debacle for the republican party. The petty rhetoric will do nothing for the party...... except lose the election. There has to be a re-alignment of the party to succeed. Wake up 'repubs'!
