Romney Adds To Delegate Lead With Nevada Victory

Mitt Romney has added to his lead in the race for delegates with a big win in the Nevada Republican presidential caucuses.

Romney won at least 10 delegates in Saturday's contest, with eight delegates still to be determined. Newt Gingrich won at least four delegates, Ron Paul won at least three and Rick Santorum won at least two.

Nevada awarded delegates in proportion to the statewide vote.

Romney has a total of 97 delegates to the party's national convention, including endorsements from Republican National Committee members who will automatically attend the convention and can support any candidate they choose.

Gingrich has 30, Santorum has 16 and Paul has seven. It will take 1,144 delegates to win the Republican nomination for president.

Previous Story:

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney has taken an imposing lead in Nevada's Republican presidential caucuses. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Texas Rep. Ron Paul are battling for second, with former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum trailing.

Returns from 11 of Nevada's 17 counties show Romney with 39 percent, Gingrich with 25 percent, Paul with 22 percent, and Santorum with 13 percent. No results have been reported yet from Clark County, which is expected to account for more than half the total vote.

I am a republican but I am voting for OBOOMA. At least he is honest about being a liberal, welfare loving, homosexual supporting president. Romenut is just a fake if there ever has been one. If you want a true conservative you should put Gingrut in office since every repub was dumb and did not vote for Perry. He would of been the best.

I wish the media, including WITN would stop using the terms "win" or "won" in states with proportional delagate allocation. It looks like all four GOP candidates "won" delegates in Nevada. Maybe they should reserve the word "winner" for "winner take all" contests or proportional races where the top vote getter gets a majority (something none of the candidsates has done as of yet)
  • by Better get your Generic Candidate FAST!!! on Feb 5, 2012 at 08:55 AM
EVERY poll show Obama beating Romney by as much as 8 points if the election were held today. These are the results BEFORE Romney debates with Obama! Imagine with the point lead will be AFTER he debates the king of Flip Floppers, HE'S FOR IT AND AGAINST IT AT THE SAME TIME. Romney has shipped more jobs overseas and scammed the Government out of Medicare than anyone in the United States. Romney don't care about poor people.

He said he wasnt concerned about poor people because there is already a program put into place to take care of them. You know, its called welfare and Obama has added to the numbers of those depending on welfare to survive.

So....what does that have to do with his personal feelings towards the poor? Romeny still said he didn't care about them, regardless of how you take the comments, saying things like that isn't going to win him votes.

Romney is not excactly a debater,,,Wonder what he's going to say when they ask him about his last 7 yrs of unemployment that he doesn't want taxed ! I cannot wait to see this cult following greedy anti-bible loving religious man go toe to toe with Obama in a debate. IF IT HAPPENS ? If Romney gets the GOP nomination using the evangelical vote, every Protestant leader in this country will have to rewrite ALL their books on theology. Masses will leave the Evangelical churches and the Mormon church will grow at astronomical proportion as we move to build a New Jeruselem in the Mid West. I cannot wait to see how our new world order churches are going to explain their teachings to their followers.

So? Obama's record is quite good if you ignore all the talking-points and partisan stupidity. If you take an objective stance and look at pure facts his accomplishments really shine. Employment has increased, American are better off, the war on terror is winding down. Internatioal relations are improving. The economy is imporving as a whole, etc.
