Add another county to the meager list of those that voted against North Carolina's amendment defining marriage solely as a union between a man and a woman.
Initial results Tuesday indicated that seven counties voted against the amendment. But Dare County has revised its count, making it the eighth county to vote against the ban.
The revised figures for Dare County show 3,785 people voted against the amendment and 3,698 voted for it, a difference of just 87 votes. The original tabulation showed 4,098 voted for the amendment and 3,845 voted for, a difference of 253 votes.
The amendment passed overwhelmingly statewide with about 61 percent of the vote. In addition to Dare, voters in seven counties opposed it: Wake, Durham, Orange, Chatham, Mecklenburg, Buncombe and Watauga.
