Rep. Jones To Pres: Military Action Without Approval Is Impeachable Offense

Third District Republican Congressman Walter Jones has a warning for President Obama. Any use of military power without Congressional approval would constitute a "An impeachable high crime and misdemeanor."

Congressman Jones has introduced House Concurrent Resolution 107 declaring if the president should use offensive military force without authorization of an act of Congress, it would be an impeachable offense.

The resolution comes in response to Defense Secretary Leon Panetta's comments that the president need not look to Congress for authorization to bomb Syria but to NATO and the United Nations.

Jones' resolution calls for impeachment should Obama take offensive action based on Panetta's statement because it would be a violation of the U.S. Constitution.
