A new poll suggests more Americans than not approve of President Obama's endorsement of same-sex marriage.
The Gallup Poll survey showed 51% of Americans polled approved of the president's decision to stand in support of the issue, 45% disapproved. The results fell mostly along party lines. Democrats overwhelmingly approved of the announcement, while republicans largely disapproved. Independents were split.
Forty percent of Americans said the decision will sway their vote in November.
