Perdue Friend From New Bern Pleads Not Guilty In Flight Investigation

A close friend of Gov. Beverly Perdue has pleaded not guilty to criminal charges related to unreported flights on private planes he provided.

Trawick H. "Buzzy" Stubbs Jr. of New Bern pleaded on Monday. Stubbs is the former law partner of Perdue's late first husband.

Stubbs is accused of contributing more than $28,000 through his law firm by paying for chartered flights for Perdue's 2008 campaign and then attempting to hide it. State law limits individual contributions to $4,000 per election cycle.

Wake County District Attorney Colon Willoughby said Stubbs entered a written plea through his lawyer and did not appear in court.

Stubbs was indicted in November along with two Perdue fundraisers. Peter Reichard pleaded guilty in December and received a suspended sentence. Juleigh Sitton has not yet pleaded.

Tate Johnson should be a target. Can you say forging signatures on flight documents? Ask him if he'll take a polygraph on that line of questioning.

With the new just passed by the legislature for nearly doubling their retirement for life, if the governor did not retire, guess what she would not get the new retirement system. again kudos for the governor.

Sorry, but Governor Perdue needs to step up to the plate for her friends, and claim responsibility. She will not run for a second term, as she knows she will have a struggle to win a second term. She has done some outlandish deeds during her first term!

Oh no! Not our sanctimonious Bev who was so concerned about election integrity that she was against voter identification. There must be some mistake.

I will give credit to Bev for not seeking another term. However she is giving all the wrong reasons for it not the truth. Well played governor again. You indeed will go down as the worst governor that this state has ever had. What is so sad is we tend to set the bar very low for governors and you did not even reach that bar.

I think that it is time for some real perp walks to take place. an this would in all likelyhood put a stop to illegal contrubtions to anyone anywhere once an for all if the law had the guts that it would take for them to actually prosecute someone for actual crimes of this nature. but it will never realy happen as that most lawyers are so closely tied to the political porcess that they just refuse to prosecute anyone when it come to issues of this nature thank you

Do you realize how hard it is to follow your posts. You should try harder if you want to be taken seriously. Are your grammar skills this bad or are you just careless? Just curious.

No one is touching this "Buzzy" story. Of course he pleaded not guilty, he's a lawyer and a friend of our lovely Bev, doubt anything will come of this. It will just fade away and Buzzy will get another name plate in yet another NB parking lot.
