Perdue Blames Bad Economy For NC Endowment Setback

Beverly Perdue declared during her 2008 campaign she would form a panel to try set up an alternative way for people running for North Carolina governor to raise money.

The Democrat signed paperwork two days after getting sworn in as governor to create a task force to lay the groundwork for a private foundation. The foundation would offer money to future candidates who met outside fundraising limits and ran clean campaigns.

Perdue named a panel chairman, but the panel never met. She and Chairman Tom Lambeth said it was the wrong time to raise money from outside groups because of the Great Recession. Perdue could revive the idea if she gets re-elected.

Republican House Elections Committee Chairman David Lewis of Dunn said the foundation would do little to remove negativity from campaigning.

For Bev Perdue to lecture anyone on any kind of policy at this point is just simply laughable.

Money and positions corrupt. Assume that money you spend is yours when you make appointments that cost too much. Eliminate positions that are not necessary and use the internet to reduce your travel cost. We, the people, have watched and grimaced as you spent our tax dollars. Good luck in your personal endeavors.

How about not flying to china/asia on a "job" finding junket. How about not flying out of more trips and saving us money. how about the former governors pay for the new crop.

Gives her more reason to go back to China for another vacation to try to get more business here. How have the other trips worked to help NC?

If someone wants to run for public office they should pay for it themselves. Stop taking bribes and be honest.

Term Limits are the best way to get rid of the corruption. That's the ticket right there.
