Republican gubernatorial candidate Pat McCrory campaigned in Martin County Saturday morning.
McCrory is one of seven candidates total vying to be governor of North Carolina. He is the former mayor of Charlotte.
McCrory met with people at Deadwood Restaurant in Williamston.
McCrory told WITN, "There are a lot of people hurting because of this bad economy. We have the fourth highest unemployment rate in the country right here in North Carolina. I'm running for governor so that I can fix the broken economy, broken education system and broken government."
McCrory was the Republican nominee for governor in the 2008 general election and was narrowly defeated by then lieutenant governor Beverly Perdue.
