On Filing Deadline Eve, 10 Candidates Officially In NC Governor Race

Eleven candidates have said they will seek the office being vacated by Beverly Perdue, but one has yet to officially file. The filing period ends Wednesday at noon.

According to the state Board of Elections website former U.S. congressman Bob Etheridge still hasn't officially filed. He says he will file tomorrow morning.

Lieutenant Governor Walter Dalton leads the democrats who have already filed, with Gary Dunn, Bill Faison, Gardenia Henley and Bruce Blackmon. On the republican side, Pat Mccrory has been the overwhelming leader in the polls, but he will face four other candidates in the primaries May 8th.

Senator Dan Blue, who had good numbers in recent polls about the governor's race says he will not be running.
