Several media outlets are reporting details of sexual harassment by the former executive director of the North Carolina Democratic Party Jay Parmley who stepped down Sunday. A letter reportedly from the former staffer who accused Parmley was released Wednesday.

A former staffer accused Parmley of showing him a picture of a penis, caressing his leg, and discussing his sexual exploits, according to claims detailed in a December 8th letter from the former party staffer, to then-Executive Director Jay Parmley.

The staffer who is named in blogs and online articles claims he was “fired in retaliation for my complaints of sexual harassment” and asks for a severance agreement equal to one year’s pay and health care coverage.

The allegations reportedly match those detailed in a January 31 complaint filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

Parmley resigned Sunday but denied harassing any employee. WITN is working on getting response about the letter from Parmley and the former staffer. They were not available for comment late Friday.
