New Polls Ahead Of Primary

Public Policy Polling has released its latest poll results before North Carolinians go to the polls on Tuesday.

Amendment One is expected to be a big draw for voters this primary. Voters are asked to decide whether to support making marriage between one man and one woman the only legally recognized union in North Carolina. The latest poll numbers from Public Policy Polling show more voters support the amendment than oppose it, 55% for and 39% against.

The Democratic primary for governor shows that race is tightening at the top. Walter Dalton's lead over Bob Etheridge has narrowed from previous polls. Dalton now has 34% support, while Etheridge has 29%, according to Public Policy Polling. The other candidates have less than 5% support.

The latest poll numbers in the Republican primary for lieutenant governor suggest a runoff election could be coming this summer. Dale Folwell has 22%, Tony Gurley has 18% and Dan Forest has 17%. The other candidates have less than 10% in this poll.
