More Rallies, Celebrities In Our State With Early Voting

Get-out-the-vote efforts are in full swing this weekend in North Carolina as early in-person balloting has begun.

Republicans planned to begin a 10-stop statewide "Early Vote Victory Tour"' in Wilkesboro Saturday morning with appearances by gubernatorial nominee Pat McCrory, Council of State candidates and state party chairman Robin Hayes. Tour stops will continue next week.

The Democrats' "Gotta Vote" bus tour was scheduled to make stops Saturday in Rocky Mount, Raleigh and Durham. The stops featured Academy Award-winning actress Octavia Spencer from "The Help" as a special guest.

The Obama campaign also said rap mogul Russell Simmons and fashion models would headline a rally in Greensboro and Vice President Joe Biden's son Beau would be in Fayetteville and Raleigh.

More than 150,000 people voted on early voting's first day Thursday.
