McCrory Distancing Himself From Comment About Perdue

Pat McCrory is distancing himself from a comment made by Wake County's Republican Party chairwoman in which she called Democratic Gov. Beverly Perdue "the dumbest governor in America."

A spokesman for McCrory's gubernatorial campaign said Friday the former Charlotte mayor neither agrees nor condones the public comments of Wake GOP leader Susan Bryant on Thursday night shortly after McCrory's speech to nearly 2,000 party activists.

Earlier Friday, Wake County GOP spokesman Luther Snyder said Bryant stands by her comment and that she was being political, not personal. She pointed to actions and statements by the governor to defend it.

While McCrory touts running positive campaigns, he routinely blamed Perdue for a culture of corruption within state government in their 2008 general election campaign. Perdue isn't seeking re-election.

As an independent voter and one who did not vote for Perdue, the over the top comments of some members of the republican party really turn me off and against the party. I appreciate McCrory rising above the rest and will Likely vote for him again this year. The other candidates, republican or democrat, that stoop to the low class name calling will not get my vote.

Just watched a tv commerical about how the NC lottery has given the school system 2.2 billion. It would be bigger if Perdue had not transfered 100 million from the lottery to support her state goverment. How is that for stupid and then turn around and say she is for educdation and on top of all that taking trips with her posse to china and europe.

McCrory is doing the right thing by distancing himself from people like Susan Bryant. I can't stand Bev Perdue either, but for a person in a party leadership position to make comments in public that you would expect an 8th grader to make is inexcusable. I will vote for McCrory simply because he has too much class to stoop to the name calling unlike Thom Tillis, Phil Berger, and Stephen LaRoque.

I'm no Perdue fan by any means, but why doesn't Susan Bryant run if she thinks she can do better?
