Republican Pat McCrory and Democrat Walter Dalton are taking to the stage together to answer questions for the first time in their six-week old general election campaign for North Carolina governor.
The former Charlotte mayor and the lieutenant governor were scheduled to participate in an hour-long forum Saturday at the North Carolina Bar Association convention at a Wilmington hotel.
The major-party candidates never seemed to ease off campaigning after winning their respective party primaries in May. McCrory has started running commercials. Democratic and Republican governor's associations have spent money for TV ads as well.
Dalton and McCrory have attended the same events but hadn't met face to face to answer the same questions.
Libertarian Barbara Howe is also running for governor.
