One candidate looking to inherit Beverly Perdue's seat as governor was in Pitt County campaigning Thursday.

Lieutenant Governor Walter Dalton was at Pitt County Community College for a town hall meeting Thursday. Nearly 20 people showed up to discuss jobs and education. Dalton highlighted his support for the community college system, and said he had hoped to debate his Republican opponent Pat McCrory at the forum.
"We asked my opponent to come and debate. The people want that. The people deserve that. The people like the transparency. They want to hear us. He said: 'No.I'm not going to debate'," said Dalton

The two have agreed to three debates already. The North Carolina Association of Broadcasters will have two that will be broadcast live across the state on television and radio stations. A third is set for Wesleyan College in Rocky Mount.
