Judge Weighs Lawsuit Over Ad In NC Governor's Race

Lawyers for Republican governor candidate Pat McCrory have asked a North Carolina judge to dismiss a lawsuit filed by a group seeking to have an ad critical of the former Charlotte mayor declared true and constitutionally protected.

A Superior Court judge heard about an hour of arguments Wednesday in Raleigh but made no ruling on the motion filed by attorneys for McCrory and his campaign to halt the litigation from North Carolina Citizens for Progress.

Judge Paul Ridgeway says he needed more time to review the case.

The case stems from a commercial N.C. Citizens ran in May raising questions about McCrory's connections to a Charlotte-based business.

N.C. Citizens got funding from the Democratic Governors Association.
