In Maine, Paul Vies To Extend Romney Losing Streak

Today's caucuses in Maine come down to a competition between one candidate looking for his first win and another looking to end a losing streak.

Ron Paul has scored a few top-three finishes in other early voting states. But his strategy for winning the Republican presidential nomination has focused on winning some of the smaller caucus contests where his passionate base of supporters can have a big impact.

Paul was out this morning in Sanford, greeting caucus-goers at a crowded high school gym. He says he likes his chances in Maine and a win would give him momentum. He says: "It's a pretty important state as far as I'm concerned."

Romney is looking for Maine voters to help as he struggles to convince his party's conservative wing that he should be the candidate they back. He told a crowded caucus in Portland this morning that he learned conservative values from his mom and dad, and promised he would "bring America back" if elected president.

Neither Newt Gingrich nor Rick Santorum, who won in Missouri, Minnesota and Colorado on Tuesday, is actively competing in Maine. State party officials plan to declare a winner this evening.

Clearly you are losing touch with reality. Have you taken a look at the economic numbers lately - they just keep getting better and better. People will be voting on the numbers and unless the economy takes a nose dive before November Obama is going to win regardless of who the GOP is going to run. Watching the GOP debates has just been entertainment for those of us who know how this is going to turn out. You need to take off your rose colored glasses because unless something awful happens to the economy Obama will be a 2 term president.

Fool me once, won't get fooled again. The famous quote from the DuBya . Start two wars then leave office . The mantra of the GOP warlords. We cannot afford another GOP war.

Dear snake boy, We regret to inform you that George DuBya "2 war" Bu$h will not be getting an invitation to go to the GOP big top klown show this year. Please check back with us after obama's second term . Please also inform him that he should not leave the country as he could be arrested for war crimes in other countries if they have a chance to get him.

They call a winner a week before the election ends in Maine. Florida's votes are cut in half because they went too early. Missouri holds a caucus that doesn't mean anything as a prelude to a non binding primary. South Carolina goes to a guy bankrolled pretty much by one billionaire gambler. And Nevada holds "special" caucuses to please the same billionaire after the polls are supposed to be closed. Indiana's election will be run by a guy convicted of voter fraud. Wonder if the GOP can run the country as well as they run their elections.

This is just a re-run of Iowa. The GOP establishment prematurely calls Romney as the winner, then has to back down as other results appear. Guarantee Maine will be called for Paul next week.

Are you ever going to answer my question? Once again, when did Bush have the power to go to war without congress (multiple choice) 1. I lied and just posted what they told me to post 2. I have no idea how government works 3. I am so caught up with idealology People that don't even know me use a special hand sign to tell me how they feel, or 4. All of the above! So can you answer the question once and for all? No, you won't, you can't....

It really does not matter if he won or one of the other three had won. They are the best the GOP can put out there which is really sad.

With less than 6000 total votes, I have seen more people at a High School Football game. Sounds like the 1% came out to vote for their guy Romney. Maine's tea party legislature has gone so far off the rails that progressives in the state are fired up and independents very alienated. I wouldn't be surprised if Obama took the state in 2012.
