RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- North Carolina Gov. Beverly Perdue says she's listening to ideas and offers about what she should do after her term ends this year, and writing a book is high on the list of possibilities.
Perdue told The Associated Press on Thursday that she hasn't decided what she'll do, but that she has lots of behind-the-scenes stories to tell about her life leading up to being elected the state's first female governor in 2008.
Perdue is a former school teacher who holds a doctorate in educational administration. She was previously lieutenant governor and a top budget-writer in the state Senate.
Perdue suddenly dropped her re-election campaign in January, citing worry that a fight with legislative Republicans over public education would become too political if she tried for a second term.
