Former State Legislator Joins New Party

A former state legislator has switched political parties, perhaps hinting he will run for elected office again.

Arthur Williams, of Beaufort County, served in the State House as a democrat, but lost re-election in 2010. The Washington Daily News says Williams signed paperwork Thursday to change his affiliation to the Republican Party.

Williams has not said whether or not he plans to run for office again.

Arthur Williams is a TRADER! He received donations from the NCDP in the amount of approx $146,000 and also received monies from other Democrats. In return, he gave thousands of dollars to state Republican candidates and a well known blk pastor in Washington ($6000). It appears that Mr Williams left the Democratic Party! If you want proof, this can be verified thru the NC Board of Elections Website! Adios Mr Williams!

If you think either parties best interest is the middle class working person's, then indeed who is the fool? Go google bernie sanders oil speculation and educate yourself what a politician should be, it may be the only right thing you do all weekend. Repub's or Democrats......2 useless parties

lubba lubba lubba- no raises for state employees- we are TAXED ENOUGH ALREADY. You need to join with us, and make the politicians LOWER THE COSTS OF LIVING. Take corn out of the gas tank- lowers food prices, and gives us our gas milage back! STop the evil democrat pig strangling of business, so we can make money again- a good economy causes more tax receipts, then you can get a raise- but continuing to give us democrat PIGS destroying life and economy is NOT how to get a raise. as to the freak in this story- NO, NEVER FORGIVE AN EVIL PIG DEMOCRAT- NO MORE EVIL GREEDY PIGS EVER!!!

Ralphie? So you are saying that state employees should never get rasises again? I pay taxes too, but I provide a needed service for the state. When I see my good friend that works for an electric company getting BIG raises every year, and many others in other jobs, then I ask what the problem is. We seem to find the money to build build build, and to waste waste waste, but nothing for the employees. property Tax increases, health insurance increases, GAS increases(that are BUSTING the economy), Food cost more, and yet no raises to help. When I see someone on foodstamps and welfare driving a nicer car than me, then I know there is a problem as you referred to...But in the meantime, I work and pay taxes, and yet you think I don't deserve anything.......Seems to me maybe the problem is just as much with the voter as the politician.........Have a nice weekend

Hey if you are jealous of your friend's raises at the electric company then go get a job like that at the electric company....don't just stand there and say I deserve a raise cause he got a raise.

Lubba, you and I agree often on the same things but your previous post missed one thing as to why I dissagree with what you prefaced you post, the Tea Party. It scares the democrats to dealth as you have seen in 2010. It put in true conservatives and made them accountable in the Federal and in NC. I say go with the flow. If they screw up, they are gone. It even helped cause the Jobs bill to be killed as the couple democrats that voted against it? They know if they did, tea party will replace em. If you notice, all the posters here and in the news media has to try to tear apart the TP every chance they get. They call them raicist with no proof, the reason the economy is bad, the reason unemployment is connection but look at the vile hatred they have for conservatives. I say, I support all they do. I support nothing Obama has done afterall, I don't care for a communist.

I am saying state employees should not get raises when we are all broke- the taxpayers and the government. Power companies make profits- that is where raises come from. You serve the people when you work for the state. The people cannot let you be our parasite. You're too big- you are killing us.

You wanna impress everyone, then change parties while you are STILL in office, not after you lose and realize the coat-tails you thought you could ride in on no longer exist. Just another case of a politician tryin to self serve off the many fruits of the state. I hope we can have some canidates in 2012 who care about state employees....3 years without a raise, and not one NC politician cares enough to say anything about it. I'm sorry but next year will be to late to smooth it over with a small raise and hollow promises. I don't care what party you are in..... If your in now I'm voting you out

Thats OK, most all of us will vote republican again, we simply cannot afford the tax increases the state has done to us over the years. The fact they nearly tripled my property taxes last year the democrats were in power...I get it. I like what they are doing like drug testing people that go on welfare...that is where our money goes, welfare. We now feed, house and medicate anyone that wants it and you wonder why the state has no money. We pay income tax, property tax, sales tax, gas tax, oil tax and a whole range of other taxes and its never enough. Then you blame this on the incumbants who are trying to lift the load on the middleclass. Are you aware there are states that actually operate on no income tax, property tax? We are on the top ten states with the highest tax on gas....have you not noticed the spending in the state has been well out of hand for years. We are quite frankly, sick of it and thats what we told you in 2010. You will get more of the same in 2012. Trust me, I am a registered democrat, not voting my party back in anytime soon.

Typical career politician!! Doing just like Walter B. Jones did in early 90s when he was beat by Eva Clayton!! Remember? Man do we need election reform or what? It's not about true personal conviction, integrity, etc. it's all about getting money/re-elected!! I imagine he'll come out and say that his previous party just didn't represent his core beliefs anymore(like Jones did)! He's just coat tailing on what the flavor of the month is!! What will he do if his new party falls out of favor? Well... you know what he'll do!! Hypocrite!! ELECTION REFORM NOW!!!!

He's really concerned about jobs, I can tell. of apparently he's only concerned with getting the one he had back. Just because he changes parties, does anybody think he's about to change his politics. if you do, then you deserve him. "Goover" has him pegged pretty good, and I agree, let's allow him to stay "retired"
