First lady Michelle Obama turned the hardwood floor at the Time Warner Arena in Charlotte into an elementary school gym.
Obama promoted the "Let's Move!" fitness program with children from two Charlotte elementary schools Friday before she attended Democratic Party fundraisers in Raleigh and Charlotte. It took place after a women's basketball game at the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association basketball tournament.
The first lady walked to midcourt and addressed the crowd about her national anti-obesity campaign. Then, she and North Carolina Senator Kay Hagan tossed basketballs to children from two Charlotte elementary schools competing in a relay in the arena.
The fitness event took place in the arena where the Democratic National Convention will be held in early September.
