Ex-Wife Says Gingrich Wanted 'Open Marriage'

Newt Gingrich's second wife says the GOP presidential candidate asked her for an "open marriage" in which he could have both a wife and a mistress.

In an interview with ABC News' "Nightline" scheduled to air Thursday night, Marianne Gingrich says she refused to go along with the proposal.

The interview is airing just two days before the South Carolina presidential primary, and as Gingrich is gaining ground on GOP front-runner Mitt Romney.

Marianne Gingrich was the candidate's second wife. He is now married to Callista Gingrich, with whom he has acknowledged having an affair.

In excerpts of the interview released by ABC, Marianne Gingrich said Gingrich conducted his affair with Callista "in my bedroom in our apartment in Washington."

If Jesus came back and ran for a political office I wonder what type of dirt the news media would bring up on him. We have the best politicans money can buy. In real life it is impossible to find someone that agrees with every thing you believe in, except hopefully the Constitution. Todays politicans are no different than any from the past. The only difference today is that we have instant 24/7 news coverage and video recordings of everything. This is one of the few places where one can disagree with their Govt. Leaders and not end up in jail or worse! God Bless the USA

Mark Stanford secretly leaves the country to commit adultery with his long-time mistress, lies about his whereabouts, and republicans universally pardon and forgive his transgressions. President Clinton commits adultery, lies about it, and republicans denigrate and want to impeach him. Bush and Cheney obfuscate, mislead us about Iraq, drag us into an unnecessary war, and republicans praise Bush as the second coming of Reagan. With his wife fighting cancer (and while overseeing Clinton’s impeachment), Newt engages in a long-term adulterous affair, and republicans herald him as “the savior of Christian values.” People represent the sum total of their experiences, and based upon the Predictive Model, which postulates that past behavior is very likely to influence future behavior, the dishonest actions of serial adulterers like Newt reflect entrenched character flaws anchored upon grandiosity, entitlement, the consuming need for immediate gratification, and extremely dysfunctional patterns of judgment, perception and thought—as manifested via impulsive, irresponsible, risky, manipulative and exploitative behavior. Adulterers tend to have a corrupted sense of self-awareness; thus, they often have a poor prognosis for change or self-correction. Infidelity is an act of unfaithfulness, and it’s quite obvious that Newt’s penchant towards unfaithfulness (two of his three marriages have fallen prey to infidelity) signals a recurring lack of empathy, self-control and a pervasive contempt for doing what is right. Newt possesses a self-destructive preoccupation with power, and his recent attempts to place blame elsewhere only highlights his phoniness and lack of remorse.

To the last 3 anon posters(who are the same person, osoc) Newt cheated on and divorced his First wife who had cancer. Newt cheated on (with the ugly Callista) and divorced his second wife who had MS. He ducked out of the child support for HIS children. In a supposedly Christian nation of 300 million people CAN'T WE DO BETTER THAN THIS? Only the dead enders will support this guy now. No chance in a general election.

Given what is actually going on in the world today does anyone really care what happened in Newt's marriages years ago? Given how many people there are out there who have cheated on their spouses and the divorce rate do you actually thing this would impact how he would do the job? One could make the argument that he did the right thing and told her he was cheating on her. He could have gone behind her back like most men would. This put the ball in her court. Does a woman who has actually been "the other woman" really have a right to complain about this?

Here is an interesting question for all you people out there who have questions about whether or not Obama was actually born in the USA. If he wasn't born here then he legally would not be president. So, would that then nullify any bill he has signed in to law? Would all of the rules and regulations he has imposed no longer apply? Would Obamacare no longer be issue because he could not legally pass it? Just wondering.

Does anyone wonder why the media will go back in history as far as they have to to dig up any dirt on a republican candidate but they have not gone back into Obama's history. They have not gone to back to find any friends of his in college or high school. They have not looked for any girl friends he had before Michelle. Do you wonder how much people were paid to not come forward with their stories about our current president?

If he would cheat on his wife then he would not hesitate to s____ the tax payers. The Republician party had better get their act together. All things considered we will still be in a mess no matter who wins.

It's completely relevant when the man is asking for the top job in the country and when part of his platform involves "family values". It shows what a hypocrite he is.

Edwards and Clinton are not running for President. Newt Gingrich describe himself when he blasted the moderator of the debate with his words of criticism. As a "think tank" for Republican candidates no other political figure has played with moral issues to obtain the evangelic support than Newt Gingrich. He is the reason that many Evangelical leaders pulled out of and shut down offices in Washington. Gingrich turned his back on them as if they were the joke of the century, The trio of Armey,Delay and Gingrich wrote off the "Christian voters years ago" Now they need them. Years ago ,Newt's "slam the door in your face" attitude toward Pastor Dobson cost him the evangelical support. He's only eating his own hypocrisy. When you call people on here hypocrits, please include your leaders Gingrich.
