Early Voting Underway For Runoff Primary

Voter turnout was low Thursday as early voting for the runoff primary election got underway.

Pitt County saw a total of eleven voters.

Pitt County Elections Director Dave Davis says the low turnout is not a big surprise, as many people are on vacation or simply not keeping up with the candidates.

The state requires every county to have one stop voting that Davis says costs Pitt County nearly $5,000.

Voting will decide the winners of contests not decided in last months primary.

One stop voting runs through July 14th. Second primary election day will be July 17th.
