The first presidential debate is in the books, and plenty of supporters for both candidates were glued to their television screens Wednesday night here in eastern carolina.
Both the ECU College Republicans and the Obama for America organization held viewing parties in Greenville Wednesday night, as president Barack Obama and Governor Mitt Romney squared off in a 90 minute debate on domestic policy. Both sides say they realize how important the first debate can be for each candidate moving forward.
"if voters see the winner of this debate, then they can either be turned on to the next to debates or they'll be turned off to the next two debates. I think the winner gets a lot of momentum going forward," said Adam Caldwell with Ecu College Republicans.
The next presidential debate isn't until October 16th, but the vice presidential debate between Congressman Paul Ryan and Vice President Joe Biden is scheduled for October 11th.
