ENC Presents United Front For Road Projects

Counties from across Eastern Carolina have formed a new coalition to fight for highway and road projects for all drivers in the east.

The group, which met in New Bern Thursday for the first time, is made up of metropolitan and rural planning organizations from 41 counties. Those counties represent 28% of the population in the state.

The group formed because members feel Eastern Carolinas voice is not always heard in Raleigh when it comes to what projects need to be done.

The group will push for work on the Greenville Southwest Bypass, Slocum Gate, NC 11/241 and 24 connector , Maysville Bypass, an upgrade to NC 24 and the Hampstead Bypass.

The next meeting for the coalition will be in October.
