Dalton Not Speaking At SEANC Convention

The union for North Carolina's state employees will hear from several politicians at its annual convention, but Democratic gubernatorial nominee Walter Dalton won't be one of them.

The State Employees Association of North Carolina begins its three-day gathering Thursday at the Koury Convention Center in Greensboro. Speakers at the event will include state Senate leader Phil Berger, Democratic lieutenant governor candidate Linda Coleman and Republican candidate for governor Pat McCrory.

SEANC executive director Dana Cope said Dalton was invited to speak, too, but Cope said Dalton's office told his group he had another commitment. Dalton has been at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte this week.

The association's political committee endorsed neither Dalton nor McCrory for governor.

About 1,100 people are expected to attend the convention.
