The major-party candidates for North Carolina governor planned visits to large but different crowds in Raleigh this weekend.

Democratic Lt. Gov. Walter Dalton was slated to participate in a candidates' forum Saturday at the state convention of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People at a Raleigh hotel. Republican Pat McCrory isn't attending.

A McCrory campaign spokesman said he had a scheduling conflict and pointed out the two candidates have agreed to four debates this year. McCrory planned to visit the North Carolina State Fair a few hours before the scheduled NAACP forum and hold a fundraiser in Gastonia later.

Dalton also scheduled a speech Saturday at a state Democratic Party rally at Chapel Hill High School.
