The Democratic National Convention is in Charlotte this September, and keeping with tradition the DNC donated money to minority-owned banks in the state.
Wednesday the committee deposited $2 million to Mechanics and Farmers Bank and the Latino Community Credit Union both in Durham. The funds will help small businesses get loans
"We are doing this because it is a key part of what our messaging is around the Democratic National Convention and a part of what our legacy we hope to leave here in North Carolina," Said DNC Committee CEO Steve Kerrigan.
The convention funds are from a federal election commission grant.
