Congressman Jones Refers To China As "Uncle Chang"

Comments from Third District Republican Congressman Walter Jones are overshadowing testimony from Marine General John Allen -- the top commander in Afghanistan --before the House Armed Services Committee.

During questioning about the timetable for troop withdrawal and the cost of the war and borrowed money, Jones made the remark.
Jones said, "What is the metric? What is the event that the administration and General Allen, you, sir, are gonna be candid with the United States Congress, and more important than the Congress, the American people, as we are spending $10 billion a month that we can't even pay for. The Chinese -- Uncle Chang -- is lending us the money to pay that we're spending in Afghanistan."

Congressman Jones' office has not commented on his remarks.

Anybody pick up on Jones' staffers taking up for their boss? Yes your tax money pays for his staffers to monitor news outlets and to comment(defend) their boss. Of course they wouldn't do this if they were to be outted though. Term limits, etc. is just smoke and mirrors.. Jones jr is a career politician just like 99.9% of the DC critters(and his dad) and will DO NOTHING to upset the status quo!! PERIOD. He (like his dad) and I imagine before long his kids will get in line to live off our hard work/taxes. The ONLY thing that will change the status quo is campaign reform!! Until the avg guy can run for and win office without having to pay back contributors NOTHING WILL CHANGE!!! END CAREER POLITICIANS & LOBBYIST/PAC INFLUENCE!!!CAMPAIGN FINANCE REFORM NOW!!!!!!

I am OFFENDED that our government is borrowing so much money that it will have to financially RAPE the taxpayers to pay China back. Maybe we would all benefit from watching re-runs of the Waltons to prepare us for our future deprivations.

You are probably the same person that was offended if anyone spoke up against war. We have to pay taxes in order to get out of debt. That's just a fact. This is what happens when we go to war with out raising taxes to pay for it.

Nearly 1/3 of our total spending is now borrowed money. China isn't going to loan us money much longer. Even credit card companies eventually start asking for repayment.

I'm with ya! So when are you Liberals going to expand the tax base and let the other half of the country help out with some of the bills?

Walter Jones is one of the very few GOOD politicians left in the United States. He tells it as it is and does not tell lies about what is going on. I would love to see him run for president one day. Just doubt if he will have that much political power!

Sure he is!! How much has he offered to cut his salary? How much has he offered to cut the budget for congresstional staffers which is in excess of 2 billion a year(DC offices)? He is a career politician plain and simple. Just because he'll drop you a line and shake your hand and talk about bar-b-q doesn't change anything!! 9 terms and going makes him part of the satus quo. PERIOD!! he has NOT done anything to change the way we elect folks. So, he IS the satus quo!! So what if he writes some letters, he's getting paid $ 174,000.00 a year with benefits. I'd galdly write TWICE the letters, go to TWICE the cook outs and shake TWICE the hands for that kinda of money!! OPEN YOUR EYES FOLKS!! Our democracy is for sale!! We now have career politicians and NOT public servants!! CAMPAIGN FINANCE REFORM NOW!!!!

I knew Walter Jones Jr, way before he went to Washington D.C., he has his heart in the right place, and he cares for his fellow man. I just wish we had more in Washington that would speak for the people, like he does. We are spending borrowed money, that we can't pay back. some of you people need to get your heads out of the sand!!! Are better yet "Wake Up and Smell the Coffee"..We as a country are going down a very slippery slope, If you don't think so, buy some gas, are just go to the grocery store!! That should be and eye opening experience..

Facts are facts. We are spending borrowed money for a war that can't be won. Heck, even the Russians figured that one out.

He must have forgotten to take his medication again. Just make sure theat whoever is elected in 2012 does NOT make Jones an ambassador to ANY country. Better yet, retire tyhe fool and help him find a quiet place where he will look after without leaving the premises. Nutcase Republican politician.

It's amusing to watch all the personal attacks in the comments section. No one seems to want to address the subject of the cost of the Afghanistan campaign.
