Lawsuit Seeks Damages For 1983 Beirut Bombing & 9-11

Families of victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks and a 1983 bombing of U.S. Marines in Lebanon are seeking to hold Iran accountable in separate legal actions.

A lawsuit filed Monday in federal court in Manhattan seeks to enforce a $2.6 billion judgment against the Islamic Republic of Iran awarded by a federal court in Washington, D.C. That award stemmed from claims Iran was involved in an October 1983 bombing that killed 241 servicemen from Camp Lejeune at a U.S. Marines facility in Beirut.

Lawyers for families of victims of the 2001 terror attacks are seeking to force the government of Iran to pay damages for supporting terrorism.

No lawyers have represented Iran in the actions.

Delta - you clearly have no idea what you are talking about! While I do admit that the 9-11 families are milking the "sue card" the Lebanon families have received nothing. This lawsuit filed by the Lebanon families has been in the works for a few years now and from what the attorneys say the money has been collected. If you had done any research before voicing your ignorance you would find that Obama is opposed to paying out for political reasons - this was started well before his term began and has absolutely nothing to do with him. The only people that has wasted time on this issue are the families of the victims and the attorneys. Perhaps if it had been your son blown up you might not feel it such a waste of time.

Good luck with that! The united nations can"t stop Iran from building nuclear plant but you going to try the sue card. Thats funny, more like a waste of someone"s money and time. Hopefully its not another waste of tax payers dollars. Must be obama stimulus plan for lawyers.

Okay, they are seeking to hold Iran accountable for the bombings and attacks...now how do they propose to do that??? The statute of limitations may prevent it. We'd all love for someone to 'pay'. We're still at war, and Sadam is dead, along with many Taliban and Al-Qaida leaders. But hey, let them try it.
