NC State E-mails Say Governor Involved In Wife's Hire

E-mails released by North Carolina State University indicate former Gov. Mike Easley was involved in the school's hiring of his wife.

The e-mails were released Monday as Chancellor James Oblinger resigned, becoming the third school official to leave a post in the flap over the job given to former first lady Mary Easley. The revelation that Mike Easley was involved in the hiring is contained in e-mails between Oblinger and the former chairman of the school's board.

The communications indicate that Mike Easley was part of a back and forth over his wife's hiring at the school, telling university officials of Mary Easley's interest in the post. E-mails between the officials also state that the governor told them he planned to talk with his wife about the job.

BL, while I am a democrat, I haven't voted on these foolish bozos in years. Remember, the party that used to support the working. Well, if you haven't noticed, its now the liberal progressive party. You know, the party of loons and give away. The party of socialist that are affecting the working and poor. Example, who do you think increase in cigs and alcohol, gas affect the most? The rich? Wrong. The poor and lower middle class. So you say ignorant republicans? They were the only party to stand up to it. So, what are we now, we are the ignorant democrats, the party of corruption, lies and deceipt, tax dodgers, just look around at the party and whos following it. So you must think the rich Easleys and Purdues have us in mind? What are you thinking? Everytime I turn around I am getting blindsided by what another democrat is discovered to have done. And then there is Pelosi....please put the pipe down and pay attention.

Uhhhh, BL any elected official who uses his/her influence to get his/her spouse an overpaid, made-up, non-competitive job (I don't think each of these elements is tough to prove by reading the emails)is unethical at best and criminal at worst. It doesn't matter what their political affiliation is. If you don't think this position (with it's overly high salary )was created for Mary Easley because her husband was the governor then I have some cheap ocean front property in G-Vegas to sell you! If this was a true need at State then it should have been advertised and competitively awarded at a normal salary as all state jobs are supposed to be!

Gasp! You, you, you, mean the Easley's are crooks? Say it ain't so! If the Easley's had any honor, and we all know they don't, she would step aside and let State (and the NC tax payers) out of the contract. However, a contract is a contract. Instead I think Campbell and Oblinger should pay us back either in cash or, better yet, as inmates picking up trash on the side of the road! Somebody should go to jail over this!
