Kirsten Gillibrand Picked As Next New York Senator

Democratic congresswoman Kirsten Gillibrand is the New York governor's pick to fill Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton's vacate Senate seat.

Gov David Patterson named the 42-year-old Gillibrand Friday.

Gillibrand was a dark horse, lacking the name recognition of Caroline Kennedy, who withdrew her candidacy, or even the seniority of other New York representatives vying for the job.

But she is a proven vote-getter in her sprawling eastern New York district. She picked off an entrenched Republican incumbent in 2006 and cruised to re-election last year.

She was named because she is a great fund raiser. Anonymous, you are stretching and psycho-blathering, doesn't make any sense. Get some sleep, have a sandwich and a sweet tea, study alot, then try again.

Take the higher road, Mr. T. Stop being Rebellious, Mr. T. Alright, Mr. T. Stop being rebellious. Take the higher road, Mr. T. Yes, be fair. Advocate social equality. Hopefully, this will be all you hear as you sleep the next couple of nights.

Anonymous, So if they were racist, do you not think that Obama when he was a senator, didn't have some racist feelings toward Whites? Or how about representatives Jesse Jackson, Jr., Maxine Waters, and Eva Clayton. They all have some racist feelings toward Whites. But I guess its alright for them to have them because they have a right to. BS!There is racism on BOTH sides of the fence. Don't point out racism on one side if you can't point it out on thhe other side. Be fair.

Mr. T., I'll just remind you that if that were the case we would have 100 racist senators (Helms-and Thurmond, initially). Also, there would be 100 (1 for each senator) illegitimate mixed-race children (Strom Thurmond). I thought you conservatives despised that. I am dismayed with the hypocrisy! These 100 senators would also oscillate from choosing to disenfranchise certain citizens based on race and providing suffrage to those same individuals. And the list goes on. Be careful what you wish for Mr. T. Sometimes wishes come partially true with a twist added in. ;) In other words, instead of being a blessing, the wishes become a curse. Imagine that.

She must be doing something right since the Dem. Congress is upset at her naming. She also is supported by the NRA.

Blog, I really don't believe in cloning. I was just making a point. I would love to see Barack deal with 100 senators just as conservative as Jesse Helms. And maybe Strom Thurmond.

MrT, there's always that area of subjectivity. In your opinion, maybe so. Others probably think not. Anyway, I thought you were a conservative, Mr. T. Conservatives do not condone cloning. At least that's what they claim.

If I had my way, they would have saved some DNA from Jesse Helms and cloned it and made 100 Jessies. Then put them all in the Senate, and see how Obama would deal with a Senate full of Jesse Helms.Might even make America a better place to live.

Excellent choice. As a conservative and a supported of the 2nd Amendment I am very pleased with her selection. She is also not a fan of homosexual "marriage".
