President Bush's Farewell Speech

President George W. Bush's farewell speech to the nation tonight is expected to be a mix of gratitude, pride in the honor of serving and a defense of his record.

One of the main themes of that defense could be that the country hasn't been attacked since 9/11.

You can watch President Bush's farewell speech tonight on WITN, starting at 8:00 p.m.

To be sure that being Black is not his best asset to being President. If you voted for President Elect Obama because he is Black then you are no better than the imbessiles that did not vote for him because he is Black. In a nation in which most of us strive to bring racial harmony to a nation in dire need, it would seem that the issues would take presidence over personal gain. Yes, I said most. The racist whites as well as the racist blacks and all other racist groups are a dieing breed. I hope that racism is the subject that my grandkids wriet an essay on. 'Racism: How it was eleminated.' And yes, I think that the white's have far more to do to cause this than any aven thought they should be the less bitter of all.

Again, African American is a nationality not a race. One could be white and be an African American. One could be hispanic and be an African American. An African American is someone that is born in Africa and then migrates to America. Just like Irish Americans and other countries that had immigrants migrate and take up roots in America. President Elect Obama did not win this election because of the Black vote and/or the Democrate vote. He won because He WAS and IS the best candidate for the position of the President of the United States. Voters across MANY races decided to cast differences aside and vote for the best man. As far as President Bush being the worst President ever, FAR from it. And as far as the essay on 'How a black man could win the election in a predominately white nation' I guess that means alot of white people voted for President Elect Obama as well. It would seem to me that His supporters would boast of his qualifications instead of his race. (continued)

I agree with you, ACE. Lavon, I think that there is too much chaos going on in our nation and in the world right now for Bush to be forgotten. However, some Republicans may hope he will be the most forgotten president in history. Another reason why Bush will not be one of the most forgotten, but rather one of the most remembered, presidents in history is because his tenure will mark a turning point in American history. He will be seen as the last consecutive Caucasian male president-meaning after his tenure, the first African-American president becomes the Executive-in-Chief. President George W. Bush and soon to be President Barack H. Obama will indeed be the most remembered presidents for a long time. Our children will read about them in history books. They will write essays about the controversy surrounding this election and how an African American man could win an election in a predominately white nation. It would be interesting for high school students to analyze our comments.

An Israeli doctor says, 'Medicine in my country is so advanced that we can take the kidneys out of one man, put it in another, and have him looking for work in six weeks. A German doctor says that is nothing; we can take a lung out of one person, put it in another, and have him looking for work in four weeks. The Russian doctor says, 'In my country, medicine is so advanced that we can take half a heart out of one person, put it in another, and have them both looking for work in two weeks. An American Texas doctor, not to be outdone, says 'You guys are way behind, we recently took a man with no brains out of Texas, put him in the White House for eight years, and now half the country is looking for work.
