Most In AP Poll Confident Obama Will Fix Economy

Barack Obama has apparently inspired confidence in his ability to fix the economy. More than 70 percent of the people surveyed say they think he'll do what's needed to deal with the economic problems.

Nearly all Democrats and most independents -- and 44 percent of the Republicans who were surveyed -- expressed that belief.

The poll found a willingness to wait on one of the keynote items of Obama's agenda -- tax cuts. Only about one out of three people surveyed by the Associated Press and GfK said they wanted Obama to make those cuts a top priority when he takes office. Even fewer wanted higher taxes on the rich to be a primary goal.

Instead, 84 percent said strengthening the economy should be a top-tier priority.

Overall, 68 percent said they think that when Obama takes office in January, he'll be able to enact the policies he pushed during his presidential campaign.

Three quarters of those surveyed said the election made them feel hopeful. Six in ten reported feeling proud -- including a third of Republicans.

Just half of those surveyed said they want Obama to make a U.S. troop pullout from Iraq a top focus.

An AP poll means nothing. The AP has been completely in the tank for obama since day one. These are the same morons who keep pushing the "RNC lawyers are looking for clothes" stories on Sarah Palin. It makes no sense and it has been denied by everyone who matters or would know, but for some reason WITN continues to pick up every fictitious follow ups to this nothing story. The AP is simply one wing of the obama marketing machine known as the main stream media.

Teddy: Indeed, I have 401K. Bought like Hades during Clinton years and made much money. Then, did OK during early W., but just flat out knew that it was a deck of cards. I bailed a year ago, went safe, and am 4.09 this year. Bush failed and this was predictable- I'll vote for "next". On the other hand, you likely bought into Fox spin and lost untold percentage. Sorry, W. is at 26% approval for a reason. Think wallet.

HI Bo - on Nov, 12,2008 at 08:59PM. Take a look at your IRA or 401K statement if you have one. Put your glasses on to see how much $$$$$ money you lost since Obama got elected. I think you have no retirement plan. So you have nothing to lose or gain. Megan is right Stocks are cheap now GE is going at its 1947 price.

Thanks Rush, errr... Magen. Riddle me this: 1. You place blame at the Presidential level for the current state of the economy. 2. George W. Bush has been President for the last 7.7 years. 3. George W. Bush is STILL President. 4. Yet you Magen, blame Obama? 5. Do you see any disconnect or faulty reasoning here, by any chance?! Maybe?

Market has no confidence in Obama Look this is a hard cold fact. Since Obama has been elected, the Dow has gone down 15 percent. thats a ton of $$$$$ money. I was at lunch today for business and 2 people had taken there money out of the stock market a few weeks before the election because they were scared of a Obama presidency. Since his election theres been no confidence in him what so ever. The best explanation i got was " if i put money into stocks, theres a very good chance i will lose it, if i dont lose it and make a few bucks then Obama is gonna tax your profits out of you anyway, theres just no upside" and remember folks stocks are CHEAP. The reason poeple are taking there money out is because they have no confidence in Obama. You people put him in office, because you wanted " CHANGE " change to what death to America? Maybe that was the real plan all a long? We were just blinded by the man?

I think the Obama hysteria that's swept this gullable country of ours, will die out when all the porch sitters find out the govt. is not going to be sending them bags of money. Obama is not going to do anything but weaken our military and crush small buisness with his naive tax plan. In a time of needed leadership we voted in the inexperienced candidate with a record so far liberal left it rolls off the table and bounces on the floor like a stale meatball. Did anyone else notice the other day when the Bushes welcomed the Obama's to the Whithouse President Bush had an expression on his face wanted it so bad it's all yours!! Woe is the future of this country!

Democrat proposes federal stake in Big Three WASHINGTON – A key House Democrat is writing legislation that would send $25 billion in emergency loans to the beleaguered auto industry in exchange for a government ownership stake in the Big Three car companies. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid are pressing for quick passage of an auto bailout during a postelection session of Congress that begins Tuesday. The legislation being drafted by Democratic Rep. Barney Frank, chairman of the Financial Services Committee, would dip into the $700 billion Wall Street rescue money approved by Congress last month for the auto aid. President Bush is cool to that idea, although the White House says he is open to helping the troubled industry. More Government ownership in private sector industry? Whats next Govt. will take over your Land and Property. Washington DC = Obamagrad. Who is paying for this?
