Voter Turnout High In North Carolina

More than four million North Carolina voters went to the polls to elect a new president, senator and governor.

The State Board of Elections says the statewide turnout topped 68%. Franklin County had the highest with 79%.

In our area Greene had a 74% voter turnout, Wayne & Wilson counties with 72%, Beaufort, Carteret, Jones & Tyrrell counties had a 72% turnout, Chowan with 71%, Duplin, Pamlico, Pitt & Washington counties with 69%.

On the low end, Onslow County had just 57% of their registered voters cast their ballots.
