So Far, One Small Voting Snafu Reported

A ballot tabulation machine broke down for a few minutes at the Pactolus Precinct in Pitt County this morning.

The chief elections official at the site says that roughly 25 ballots were cast while the machine was down.

Those ballots were inserted into a concealed compartment in the machine, and were then inserted into the tabulation machine a few minutes later when the machine resumed working properly.

The process was supervised by witnesses and done under the instruction of the County Elections Board.

The same thing happened to me when I voted early at the Morehead Planetarium. The machines become overworked and begin to malfunction. I'm glad that my people who would usually vote in the Pactolus precinct did early voting in Greenville.
