Court Removes Last Hurdle For Palin Ethics Inquiry

Alaska's Supreme Court has refused to shut down an ethics investigation into Gov. Sarah Palin, the Republican vice presidential nominee.

The decision Thursday sets the stage for state lawmakers to release a report on their investigation Friday. The report could prove to be an embarrassment for Palin and a distraction for John McCain's presidential campaign in the final weeks of the race.

Lawmakers are investigating whether Palin abused her power to settle a family dispute. Her former public safety commissioner says he was dismissed after resisting pressure to fire a state trooper who had gone through nasty divorce from Palin's sister.

Republican lawmakers had sued to block the report, saying it had become politicized.

Does anyone disagree that a state trooper should not drink on duty in his patrol car? Why then would someone not fire a trooper for that? If it wasn't tied to Sara Palin everyone would be screaming as to why the trooper wasn't fired. So she fired the guy that didn't do his job by firing the trooper. I saw all the fallout from the Pirate Football Game when cops did things you all thought they shouldn't do. I suppose if Sara Palin could have fired their bosses and did so you would have been in a real Catch 22.
