Ifill Still On For Debate Despite Breaking Ankle

Gwen Ifill has a broken ankle, but she'll still serve as the upcoming vice presidential debate's moderator.

The veteran PBS newswoman tripped in her Washington area home while walking downstairs Monday, carrying material she was using to prep for the debate between Joe Biden and Sarah Palin.

Despite the pain, doctors have given her the OK to travel to St. Louis, where the vice presidential debate is scheduled for Thursday.

"Another crazy twist in a crazy week," Ifill said, confirming her injury in an e-mail.

Ifill is moderator of PBS' "Washington Week" and senior correspondent on "The NewsHour."

After watching the debate, I think Gwen Ifill did an outstanding job. She was clear, concise and was impartial in her delivery of her questions. And since Biden made so many factual errors, I am fairly certain that she did not send him the questions ahead of time. Good job Gwen.

Please give this injured liberal moderator a break. After all she represents the 15% that think her way and think we think the same way. This was why she was digging through materials to try to find some dirt on Palin. I am sure that if NBC couldn't find it, it really will make the attack hard on Palin. Liberals think Palin will collapse but researching her, she loves to be attacked by them. This is why she did so well in Alaska, she doesn't take crap from politicians. I am sure she will send Biden in a loop, however, I am sure the spin machine will try to turn it around. Hers and Johns polls will be way up come Friday. Note this email comment so I can bash the whinny liberals that post here again. Katie was very condenscending in her interview. Palin should have cold cocked her for it...

She stays on despite, not only a broken ankle, but also despite having written a pro-Obama book set to be released soon. Her objectivity is questionable at best and I'm sure many people will be paying close attention to the questions and her manner to determine fairness.

Editor, no rules were broken, and while we are on the subject, you could work a little harder to apply the rules across the board and stop dumping posts you don't agree with for some MINOR infraction and posting blatant violations of your rules because you find the message appealing.
