Education takes center stage at a televised debate between North Carolina governor hopefuls Beverly Perdue and Pat McCrory.
The lieutenant governor and Charlotte mayor will participate in the Friday morning forum on the campus of software developer SAS in Cary. It's the fourth of five scheduled debates between the candidates.
Education policy has been a lightning rod in the campaign.
Perdue has alleged McCrory would siphon hundreds of millions of dollars from the public schools with private school vouchers. McCrory has said he has no such plan and supports only targeted scholarships for at-risk children.
The debate will air live on cable television in four markets and be replayed Friday night on University of North Carolina Television.
