Elizabeth Edwards To Testify

Elizabeth Edwards is continuing her health care advocacy with an appearance before a U.S. House committee assessing the need for reform.

The wife of former Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards will appear before the Committee on Energy and Commerce's subcommittee on health Thursday. Other witnesses include New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine.

Edwards this week made her first public speech since her husband publicly acknowledged that he had an extramarital affair with a woman hired to produce videos of him in 2006. She has not spoken about the infidelity except through a brief statement. Her Tuesday talk at the National Constitution Center focused solely on health care.

Edwards was first diagnosed with cancer in 2004 and is now battling an incurable form.

It is a shame that she be reminded every where she turns, but lets not forget one thing...they knew their entire lives would be broadcast out in the open when running for office!!

I agree. I don't think Mrs.Edwards should be reminded of the affair every time she walks outside her door, as she has no control over what her husband does or did. But I do however, think John Edwards should be reminded in every interview, meet and greet, talk show, etc. until he dies. What he put his wife through is unforgettable. She may forgive him but she will never forget. He should always be reminded of the affair.

Charles: The article is NOT about John Edwards. The article is about Elizabeth Edwards and health care. Therefore -- we do not need to be reminded of his imperfections! She isn't the one at fault here.

I completely agree. Have some compassion and respect for others. Otherwise, your news articles will become sleazy tabloids.

I take issue with VBush's comment about John Edwards and his affairs. We do need to be reminded about his affairs every chance the media gets. It reminds us of what a phoney he really is.

I am sure that Elizabeth Edwards would appreciate it if you would not continuously remind her and everyone else about her husbands affair. What she is doing and who she is has nothing to do with him in regards to her health care advocacy. You gave half of this articles space to that WELL KNOWN fact. Have some decency WITN and LET IT GO. The dirt in her life does not have to be included in every other aspect of it.
