More Americans Watch McCain Than Obama

As the race for the White House heats up the Republican party earned a victory in the battle for American viewers.

According to Nielsen Media Research a record 38.9 million TV viewers watched Senator John McCain accept the Republican presidential nomination Thursday night.

Last week 38.3 million viewers tuned in for Senator Barack Obama's acceptance speech at the Democratic convention in Denver.

Nielsen believes that Thursday night's acceptance speech by McCain drew the biggest commercial television audience for a single night of a u-s- political convention.

Overall the Republican national convention attracted more viewers than the Democratic convention.
