N.C. Democrats Shutout Media At Convention In New Bern

Members of the news media were turned away Friday night in New Bern as Democrats gathered for their state convention.

The three day convention kicked off at the Firemen's Museum with what a media advisory described as an opening reception. When WITN and other media organizations, some from Raleigh showed up, we were told it was a private fundraiser and were not allowed inside.

The N.C. Democratic Party website describes Friday's event as a reception. It does not mention it would be closed to the media. Calls and messages to communications director Kara Bolton for clarification were not returned.

The convention continues through Sunday in New Bern where party officials will elect delegates to the National Convention.

Someone missed the point. It was described as a reception not a private fundraiser. If it was introduced as one it should have been open doors. Then why does Kara Bolton not return a simple telephone call to apologize. Agree both parties have problems but I think the democratic party has a lot to work to get my votes again. Obama (I didn't listen to rev Wright) and possibly ambulance chaser Edwards? Yep, you can put this one in the garbage can. Both left libs with personal agendas. If they do get in, see ya in the gas lines.....

The democratic leadership has been taken over by Socialists. They don't want anyone to know what their positions are. They only spew feelgood rhetoric to solidify their power. Watch out for your backs!

To Bear Wrestler...Libertarian Party could make some headway, if they would nominate someone with clout instead of retreads. The philosophy is great, but many people in this country are addicted to "freebies". It is hard to take things away once they EXPECT them. Watch out for socialism, then anarchy, then dictatorship. Our youth of today are being indoctrinated not educated. Wake up America!!

George W. have you heard about the private fundraiser Bush came to in Raleigh on Friday for Pat McCrory? Thats right. The paper said they weren't able to get a picture of them. Don't put everything on the Dems.

To Steve...Right on. You can thank LBJ, in 1964, for the Great Society. The Dems have been guided by George Soros,a Socialist, the Hollywood crowd, and the Al Sharptons of the world to name a few. Blocking out the media is just one form of SOCIALISM. This generation likes the government telling them what to do, and it is PATHETIC. As a senior, this country has been going down the tubes for the 30 years. We have been addicted to freebies, and a government that rewards people for making bad decisions. What a sorry state of affairs!!! As Al Jolson said, "You ain't seen nothing yet".

Republicans and Democrats are both parties gone wrong. If you are tired of the government corruption, then vote Libertarian.

Let's retake the democratic party over and remake it into the party that it once was---A party that recognized and encouraged hard work and rewards for living right and obeying the laws of the land. Illegitmacy and homosexuality should neither be accepted nor condoned. The middle class has for too long been the whipping boys for the ultra left fanatics and the republican rich kids. Working people should no longer be extorted into raising children from cradle to grave for sorry and lazy layabouts. Get real Easley---GET OUT!

"George W", have you not heard about the private fundraiser which was held by the Republican Party for John McCain? Maybe you should consider the Independent Party...

A private fundraiser for a public job? Will my Democratic party ever stop confusing me? I don't wish to be a Republican but how much longer can I support a party that continues to shoot itself in the foot! This country is destined to turn into a monarchy if the democratic party keeps performing like they have in the past 10 years.
