Decision 2008: Moore Campaign Raised $2 Million

Democratic candidate for governor Richard Moore stayed about even with party rival Beverly Perdue in campaign fundraising during the first quarter.

But a new poll released Wednesday still shows Moore behind Perdue in the last week before next Tuesday's primary.

Moore reported his campaign received $2 million for the first 3 1/2 months of the year, while Perdue raised more than $2.2 million.

Both candidates borrowed money from themselves to help pad their Campaign coffers. But Moore entered the final weeks of the campaign with $338,000, roughly a third of what Perdue had on hand.

A new poll performed by Mason-Dixon Polling & Research and commissioned by WRAL-TV and WBTV showed Perdue with support from 45 percent of those surveyed, compared to 34 percent for Moore.
