John Edwards has all but disappeared in the four months since he dropped out of contention for the Democratic presidential nomination.
Edwards stayed in the spotlight in the four years after his first bid for the White House.
Now, some supporters and friends say they'd like to hear a signal from Edwards.
Consultant Gary Pearce advised Edwards when he ran for Senate in 1998. Pearce says Edwards got to know candidates Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama and could share his understanding of them.
Edwards' recent stretch of privacy comes after years of near constant scrutiny. Edwards launched his first presidential campaign in September 2003, and really never stopped campaigning for the White House until dropping out of this year's race.
