"Vote FOR Marriage NC" Rallies For Gay Marriage Ban Amendment

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- A campaign committee has been formed to raise money and work for approval of an amendment to North Carolina's constitution that would ban gay marriage.

The "Vote FOR Marriage NC" organization has filed paperwork with the State Board of Elections. Initial coalition members include the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, the North Carolina Values Coalition, a group of black pastors and the National Organization for Marriage.

The Legislature agreed in September to put the proposed amendment on the ballot next May.

A referendum committee opposing the amendment called the Coalition to Protect North Carolina Families formed in early November.

North Carolina state law already limits marriage to a man and a woman, and the amendment would make such a marriage the only domestic legal union recognized in the state.

If we let religous zealots to allow this amendment to go through, we have no one to blame but ourselves. And surely if they get this amendment passed, it will only be a matter of time before they bring back eugenics, and allow segregation back in the schoos (look at Wake County almost there).... and after that, will we allow the religous right to send all of us that are not like them off to our own types of 'concentration camps'? We have proven that as a society we do not learn from the mistakes of our past. So much WRONG has been done in the name of RELIGION and GOD.... I am a Christian, and also GAY.....I think many of the men on here writing doth protest a bit too much... they have though about homosexuality a bit TOO MUCH.....

How does it feel to be used, folks? The people backing gay marriage bans in government, for the most part, don't care about your moral majority. It's mostly backed by Big Insurance, who want to collect premiums from gay couples and then deny them coverage later when they need it. It's dirty and dishonest. They're not denying policies, they're collecting millions on policies they have no intention of honoring. Legalizing gay marriage will only really do one thing: it'll force Big Insurance to pay up. And it's cheaper to co-opt a religion and a government than to do that. With money earned by homosexuals, no less. So in a sense, gay money is opposing gay marriage. Also, your Bible doesn't say homosexuality is a sin. It says man shall not lay with another man as he does his wife, for that is unclean. Wanna know what else is unclean? Eating pork. But I've never heard of Christians wanting to ban pork. Because it's not a sin. Muslims and Jews don't eat pork. It isn't a sin, it's just unclean. And in the time period during which Leviticus was written, both were unclean, with little recourse against it. If human nature were a sin, God who made everything wouldn't have made it. Why would an all-powerful benign God create a catch-22? Either you believe God is not benign, or you believe he's not all-powerful. Well, or you accept that God made some people gay. When did you choose to be straight? I never did. Just was. If you made a choice, you're bisexual. If you believe others have a choice but you yourself are Definitely Straight, you're still bisexual. Bisexual means there is a choice.

To neil: no my friend i dont have personal issues all im saying is religious people are the worst to deal with. A person is better off dealing with a everyday sinner in my opinion. What should it matter to me what gay people want and do. Everyone should mind there business. And futhermore god doesnt exist no god . Do you no how many man made gods are in the world do you? There are hundreds and not one god has said nothn to me or amyone i know. If god came and talked to people in bibical days why aint he doing it now? Its just made up stuff no more than the easter bunny, santa claus and the devil.

In our constitution it says: "we hold these truths to be self-evident...that ALL men are created equal". In our past we didn't treat women equally, it was wrong. We didn't treat African Americans equally, that was wrong. Now we want to diminish the basic human rights of another group of folks. It is just plain wrong to not treat ALL men (and women) equally. Christian beliefs are what founded this land, but our ancestors wisely decided that religion had no place in politics. They must stay separate. But all good Christians think about this: how would Jesus feel about taking away a group of people's basic rights because you don't like them, or agree with them? Jesus went through the same types of prejudice because he was very different, at that time. In fact, he was put to death for it. Again the point: our constitution says that in this country we ALL are free and equal.

Christanity is such a joke. God: Ban sex before marriage. God later: Impregnant unmarried virgin. God: Let there be light! God later: LOL sun gives you skin cancer. God: Have power to save child from cancer. God later: Only if you beg hard enough.

Love the sinner...HATE the sin. Without the natural order of heterosexuality, there would be no people to choose to be gay. Heterosexuality is the NORMAL behavior.
