Friday Marks War In Afghanistan 10-Year Anniversary

Friday marks the 10th anniversary of the war in Afghanistan.

The U.S. and its allies invaded Afghanistan Oct. 7, 2001 in response to the 9/11 terror attacks. Since then, Taliban leaders have been forced out of power and Osama Bin Laden was killed.

While progress has been made, the country's future is still up in the air. Insurgent violence remains a big problem and there are questions about the stability of the Afghan government. More than 2,700 U.S. and coalition troops have died in the war during the past decade.

President Obama has said that U.S. combat operations in Afghanistan will end by 2014.

In 10 years how many hearts and minds have we won over? Only the people of this country can deside their fate. If we give it back to them, let the crooked leaders take over and then dispose of them, it would be less costly in money and lives.

Psychopath. You must be one of these "heroes" that we are expected to worship. I'm sorry, but I do not support you or your idiotic war.

I am not a historian but I truly believe our United States has been at war or involved in war more than any nation in history. Preparation for war is almost as bad as war itself. When will this mess ever stop. We need to protect our borders and stop putting trillions of dollars in war, we have done some good things. At the same time we have made many nations angry at us for reasons that should not be put in print.
