Tis' The Season To Steal

Shoppers may be grabbing lots of things off shelves, but many are leaving stores without paying for them.

During the four weeks leading up to Christmas, an estimated $1.84 billion in merchandise will be shoplifted this year, according to The Global Retail Theft Barometer, a survey of retailers worldwide. That's up about 6 percent from $1.7 billion during the same period last year.

Some people always get sticky fingers during the holidays. After all, crowded stores and harried clerks make it easier to slip a sweater under a coat undetected. But higher joblessness and falling wages have contributed to an even bigger rise this year.

Good reasons to shop online. 1. no wait 2.don't have to worry about being robbed in the parking lot. 3.get it cheaper. 4.you can price shop while saving gas on your computer.5. you don't have to worry about some idiot hitting your car then running leaving you with a damaged vehicle.6. you don't have to put up with people pushing people to get what they want.7. alot of the time you get free super saver shipping.8.you can sit home and guard your house. I'M sure there are more reasons.

This is one of the reasons honest people have to pay so much for the items they buy. Tha stores aren't going to just take the loss so they hike the price to recoup the cost of the stolen items. Seems the honest hard-working citizen can't get a break. If you see someone stealing, report it. I am tired of paying for their crime.

I feel that warmth in your heart. Both Obama and Santa Claus are socialist. With the Republicans caving into the payroll tax, you must be really depressed and sad. Hope your day improves.

At the Belks store in New Bern an alarm goes off just about every time someone walks out the store. Something is wrong at checkout or is Belks doing this on purpose?
