(WICU) How far can you make it on your own two feet? It's a question for some, a challenge for others, and for one student in Edinboro, Pennsylvania, it's a call to action.
Garth Watson is a senior at Edinboro University, and he is running across America to raise money for the organization "Stand Up To Cancer."
"I thought if I could use my running abilities, that's the thing I'm best at, try to use that for the good of other people."
On May 11th, his run started in Ocean Side, California. Since then, he has traveled across the country, 40 miles per day with his dad driving along meeting Garth every ten miles for hydration.
"I'm right at ten miles, I have his drinks ready for him."
Together from the fields of Kansas, to Parkview Field in Fort Wayne Indiana, Garth is raising money raising money every "step" of the way. Right now, his total is up over seven thousand dollars. His friends say they aren't surprised and that's just who he is.
"Garth has always had a big imagination with what he wants to do with his life, i'm glad he's putting it to good use"
Garth continues on Friday, 40 miles a day, before ending in New York City on August 15th. Running for a cause, and taking his call to action, one step at a time.
'Stand Up To Cancer' airs across all networks on Friday, September 5th at 8:00pm.
